 Hello Everyone!!!
Well, it's Sunday morning and time to write the weekly update. We have had quite a busy week.
Yesterday Prancer had obedience again and we're pretty sure he's gonna
graduate as valedictorian of the class. He's got it all down pat! And he's
still the clown! After school, Gary, my sister and I went to Orlando to pick
up Brady (the 9 year old male that just came into rescue) to foster. When we
got to Betty's house something strange happened.....we fell in LOVE with
Saharah. She came home with us as a foster but we're not so sure she'll stay
a foster....if I had to guess I'd say we'll probably keep her. She is
BEAUTIFUL!!! All the way home she layed in the backseat with me practically
on my lap. When we got home it was love at first sight (for The Man...that
is). We introduced the dogs outside in the front yard and immediately they
were romping and rolling and playing like they have been best buds for years!
It was soooooo cute!
Well, Gary and I hadn't had dinner at this point so we took Prancer and
Saharah back to Demer's Den. We had an excellent meal and I must say that
both dogs were quite a hit! Prancer is so amazing. He just layed on his
side and let Saharah chew on his neck and jump all over him while Pepe (the
american eskimo) was climbing all over his hind-quarters. All the while his
tail was a-waggin' and he had his typical "smile" on his face.
As we speak those two are playing tug-o-war with a squeaky toy. They never
seem to get tired out! I wish I had 1/2 of their energy! Their colors
really look great together. Betty was right. It is nice to have a dark and
a light retriever. Boy what a handsome couple they make!
Of course, Prancer's effect hasn't worn off on the neighborhood kids yet as
EVERYDAY there is at least 1-2 rings of the doorbell with various kids asking
to play with Prancer Man. He has such an amazing temperment. I don't think
there is an aggressive bone in his whole body. I know some people who should
take lessons from him!
So, where can we buy stock in a tennis ball company? Is there a tennis ball
bandit running around that we don't know about? How exactly do they
disappear so often? I swear.....I buy all these cute and EXPENSIVE toys from
petsmart (I'm a sucker, what can I say?!) and what do the dogs prefer?!! The
old tennis balls that Gary's Dad saves for us. Or, the old worn-out stuffed
animals that I've picked up at garage sales for them. Well, I guess I've learned my lesson.
That's all for now. We've gotta go do more research on SUV's as now there is
NO WAY we can cart around these two mooses in my convertible! We'll keep you
posted on Saharah's progress too. She is such a joy!Julie and Gary
