Garden Lake

It is a sunny spring day in the hood.  On days like this I like
to take stock of what is afoot on my turf.  So I will stake out a
sunny spot on the warm driveway outside, or nestle in some grass
to watch my world go by.  I see humans come and go in their giant
tin cans with wheels.  Sometimes they will come out with water
and soap and begin to bathe the tin can with wheels.  Strange,
the tin can with wheels never tries to get away!  Try that with
me, buster, and you'll have a lifetime of scars to show for it.

Often the human kids will get together to throw a rubber ball
through an iron hoop.  I figure they do that because we cats
won't jump through them, so it's the next best thing.  Then the
kids play catch.  I can relate to that one.  Only they catch a
ball.  I catch flies or whatever else happens to violate my no-
fly zone.  The guy across the street just panted a bunch of
flowers.  Mmmm, they look pretty tasty.  I'll have to try a few
tonight after everyone's asleep.  The Big Owner will often get
out the mechanical lawn shaver.  I can't quite hear what he's
saying over the noise but he's mumbling something like
"Again...again...again."  He must like it because he does it so
often!   Maybe I should warn him the neighbors dog was in the
yard a few minutes before and left a....oops, too late.  I moved
upwind.

It was a good day.
