Our Cats Own Page
The oldest is Lucy, who was born during a I Love Lucy Show, so that is how she got her name.  She is a Cream Point Himalayan. She will be 14 years old this year. Sometimes she forgets her age and runs around like crazy, like the house is a race track, but only makes about 3 runs and then that is it for a while. She weighs around 6 pounds. She is a lover, and likes a bath. She is starting to loose some of her color now, that happens as they get older. She was 4 1/2 years old when we got her. Does not seem like it was that long ago.

This is Missy, she was only 4 1/2 months old when we got her. She is a Blue Point Himalayan.  She sleeps up on the back of my recliner all Winter long, for the first 2 years she sure took some tumbles. Then we both got the hang of it.  She loves to be brushed and combs and will tolerate a bath, but get me dry!!  When she was younger, she would ride around on plastic bags when Dick pulled them. She will be 10 years old this year and weighs around 5 pounds. Her job at Christmas time is lay under the tree and not let any of the other cats under their, she is on guard duty she thinks, and will chase any cats that tries to come under the tree, even Shaddy.

This is Shaddy, we got him when he was around 5 years old, he will be 9 this year. He was well taken care of, but did not know how to run, play, make bread, or even purr.  Well all that has changed. He is a big baby. And when I say big, I mean 18 pounds of cat. If they could only see him now! He sits by Dick in the morning and demands a drop of milk, got to share you know.  Love to lay in the sun and soak up the rays. Play with old shoe strings and feather toys is his dream come true. He is a Silver Shaded Persian, which is one of the hardest breeds to get the color right. The top hairs on his back are black. If you have ever seen the "Fancy Feast commercial, well that is what he looks like, only better.  Sorry people, but darn it, he shoots blanks.  I sure was hoping, but time has proven it so.

This is Smokey, I got her when she was 7 1/2 months old. The people that had her did not treat her very well. But now she knows she is loved, and will stand her ground. She always purrs when ever I pick her up. She sure picks some of the funnies places to sleep. She does like me to be in the Computer Room, while she lays on the sofa or under my computer table. Sometimes she will try to sneak into the box that hold my computer paper, but out she comes flying when something is being printed. As you can see she is a pure Black Persian.  I was hoping for her and Shaddy. But then we would probably have 600 cats instead of 6. She will be 9 years old this year, and weighs around 6 pounds. Heaven forbid if the water dish is low.

This is Tuffy, and she got her name because she picked on her brother Silky when they were little. I got them when they were on 6 weeks old. Man I forgot what it was like taking care of little ones. You know sleep 2-3 hours, and then up for 4 hours.  I tried to keep them in a box over night. It was March, so they slept on a hot water bottle covered with a towel for a couple of weeks. She and her brother (below her picture) had a Himalayan mother, but as you can see that was not the only Daddy, there was a Siamese male they also, so you know what that means.  She is a little different, pet me but don't touch me! Unless if you are in the bathroom and then she walks the bath tub to be petted. She can tell you when it is 4 pm, time to get fed again. She will be 6 this year, and weighs around 5 pounds. She loves to play with Shaddy, and washes her brother Silky. Loves to get under an afghan when I lay down with one, but doesn't stay long.

This is Silky, will be 6 this year and weighs 12 pounds. He is a lover. Sometimes he too smart, one night I wouldn't let him in the Computer Room, because he kept getting into everything and trying to knock a lamp shade over. I put him out and shut the door, so he went and woke Dick up. A tattle tale indeed! When we got him, I could put him in the pocket of a T Shirt, he was that little. Dick thought it was cute that he learned how to climb up his pant leg, until those little claws got bigger and sharper. He likes to ride on your shoulder. He is also crazy about licking wet hair, rubbing his head in long hair or if you have hair spray on it. He plays Hockey with cigarettes pack that are wadded up, the rings from milk jugs. Sometimes I have to get down and clean out under the stereo, china cabinet, stove, or fridge. I am putting more pictures of him, because he is so different, I don't think he is all cat, must be some human in him. Another thing he does is jump up on the back of my chair when I am at the computer, and it just happened, I am used to it by now, but if he wants something, and I don't listen to him, he will purr in my ear, and then if that does not work, well it is time to stick a wet nose in her ear and purr real loud.

Dick started this, so now it is a morning thing, Silky on the table and 2 or 3 on the floor waiting for a drop of milk, or a piece of cereal to bat around. Let us see if Mom can find it when she sweep the floor.
Remember what I said about him being a lover, well here is proof!
He nailed Dick just a few minutes after he got home from work. If we go anywhere, it is what did you bring us home, even if it is just the plastic bag.  But something Please! We are grateful for the Scoop able Kitty Litter. Dick takes care of them in the morning, because Silky wakes him around 5 am, hey Dad I am hungry, even if I have to stick my nose in your ear and purr like crazy to wake you up. Or put a paw in your mouth, what ever it takes to wake you up. And if that does not work I will give you a love bit on the chin, that will work, I know!!

As soon as it warms up enough for them to be outside in a cage that Dick built for them, it is bath time. And that is always a blast. Shaddy gave us both baths the last time, and howls like we were killing him. The first time we tried to clip Shaddy toe nails, it took Dick and my grown son Jim to try to hold him for me. Now I just say we are going to clip them, so deal with it. Some times Dick has to help me hold on to him. The vet would have to charge me double, because his paws are so large to get him declawed.  When it comes to combing them out most will tolerate it, but Silky sounds like a lion and growls at me, of course I just growl back at him. Are they spoiled, well I didn't do it all, Dick keeps bringing home different snacks and treats for them, and of course they want to try each one, especially if you get the wrong one out.

Here is another cute one, Dick use to take them out for a walk every morning, but as you would guess, one goes out, then another, then one that has been out wants to go again. That could take an hour. And as they got older, they got heavier. So when he remodeled the closed in porch off of the kitchen, he put in 11 windows, with 12" ledge for them to sit on. They have their own table in front of 2 windows, and love to watch the birds eat bread or bird at their feeder.  And we have other animals that come up in the back yard also. We have had fox's, deer in the garden, opossum, but the night the skunks showed up, they must have know to be real quite! Right behind us is a big field and a woods, so you never know what you are going to see next.

And yes they like the Water Bed, and they can have it all day long, but at night it is mine, so get off the bed. They have finally gotten used to it, except Silky of course and he moans sometimes. They are a lot of work, but give you love that you can't measure. They are always glad to love you up no matter how you feel that day. And I think they can read our minds at times. When I had the knee surgeries, and I was up too long and in pain, I would sit down in the chair with a cushion under my legs and Silky would lay across on my ankles so I could not get back up for a while. He would look at me as if to say, "Mom you have been up long enough, take a break, even if I have to lay on,  you to make you do it".

They are our babies now that the children are grown and out on their own.  And we love them, they are family to us, that only pet owners can understand where we are coming from. Will they be anymore cats in our family? Well I lost a beautiful Tori Shell Persian about 6 years ago, it just  about broke my heart. Some day I would love to have another one like her and a Red Persian. But my goodness, that would mean 8, so I don't know. Only time will tell !!! I have a lot more that I have on the Video Camera, but will have to get back to using my regular camera.
