When I moved to Toronto in the summer of 1998 I had no idea a ferret was in my future. My boyfriend mentioned buying a ferret because he always thought they would be great pets, and so we hiked to an exotic pet store on the other side of town to see if any ferrets were there that we liked. Lasher was the only ferret in the pet store and it was love at first sight for me. My boyfriend and I both said "We take it" at the same time cuz I know my boyfriend also fell in love with Lasher. Lasher is the name of an Anne Rice character, by the way. We took him home and settled him in his cage. My sister and her boyfriend were visiting with us that weekend and brought along their dog, Nikki. Well, lets just say that Nikki scared Lasher and didn't make his adjustment to the apartment easy at first. Nikki tried to eat Lasher cuz Nikki loves to hunt squirrels and so I think she thought Lasher was a squirrel. Anyways, after Nikki went back home with my sister and Lasher got settled in more he started to go through his biting stage. I have to say that out of all my ferrets, Lasher is the sock biter. Currently he has outgrown that, but at first it was a constant tap on the nose for him for sock biting. But he is my big fatso (as you can tell, he is the biggest of the ferrets) and a passive little joy.
