| 1-1/2 cups | Boiling water |
| 1-1/2 cups | Minute Rice |
| 1 | raw egg (if you don't want to do this, a hard boiled egg or scrambled egg chopped up will do too) |
| 1/8 tsp | Salt substitute |
| cup | skinned cooked chicken breast, chopped fine in food processor (or ground turkey works) |
| 1/4 cup | fresh broccoli florets (or frozen) chopped fine
(I used to use 1-2 Tbsp dried parsley until I found out, for Sparky, that parsley is high in oxalates - may want to check with your vet though as far as adding green veggies) |
| Beat the egg, add to the hot water and rice and salt - let sit for 5 minutes or per package
directions. You want enough rice to make 2-2/3 to 3 cups.
Cook up the chicken (can either boil or broil), cool, remove any skin, chop into fine pieces - food processor works great for this. Let rice mix cool, add chicken and broccoli. |
| capsule | Nature's Way Vitamin B50 complex |
| 3-4 capsules | Dale Anderson's Norwegian Cod Liver Oil (I poke the capsule and squeeze the oil out. (1250 mg size) |
| 1/4 capsule | Nature's Way Calcium, Magnesium and Vitamin D |
| capsule | Nature's Way glucosamine 500 mg |
| 1-2 capsules | Nature's Way Standardized Milk Thistle Extract (purple label and cap) |
| capsule | Schiff Dry All E 400 IU |
I feed him about 1-1/3 cups of this mixture per day along with about 1/4 cup distilled water with each serving of food to get a flush going for the kidneys. I break this daily quantity up into 3-5 small meals so as to not to overload his digestive system.
Other supplements to consider if kidney stones are not a problem is a good multi-vitamin
supplement and Vitamin C.
The above mixture lasts Sparky about 3-4 days. I usually make a double batch and freeze half.
