Wrasses

Cleaner Wrasse

If you have a marine aquarium, you need one of these fish. They clean other fish freeing them from parasites.

Don't get this fish mixed up with the False Cleaner Wrasse which takes chunks out of fish. To tell them apart, look at the location of the mouths. The Cleaner Wrasse has its mouth at the end of its snout, while the False Cleaner Wrasse has an underslung mouth.

Care for the Cleaner Wrasse:

Foods: parasites off other fish, finely chopped meat, live foods, and flake.

Birdmouth Wrasse

(I don't have a picture of a Birdmouth Wrasse)

This fish is also called the Beakfish Wrasse.

Adult male Birdmouth Wrasses have a beautiful peacock green colored body while the fins are lighter green. Females and young ones are dull brown.

As with the French Angelfish, young Birdmouth Wrasses clean other fish of parasites.

Care for the Birdmouth Wrasse:

Foods: algae and brine shrimp.
