Pencilfish

The night colors of these fish are different from what they look like during the day. The longitudinal stripes disappear and cross-bands show. The cross-bands are difficult to see in daylight.

Some pencilfish have adipose fins (which are between the dorsal fin and the tail) and some don't.

Dwarf Pencilfish

The smallest of its genus, the Dwarf Pencilfish is peaceful and timid. This fish is a joy for an aquarist that likes small aquarium fish.

With this small pencilfish have a well-planted tank with floating plants.

Care for the 1 1/3 inch long Dwarf Pencilfish:

pH: 5.8-7.5 (average 6.5)----- dH: to 15 degrees (average 4 degrees)----- Temperature: 75-79 degrees Farenheit----- Foods: small flakes, tablets, brine shrimp, and freeze-dried foods.

Three-lined Pencilfish

Many aquarists say this pencilfish is the best of its genus. They swim in schools, and like the Dwarf Pencilfish, they are peaceful. The Three-lined Pencilfish is recommended for most community tanks.

Care for the Three-lined Pencilfish:

pH: 5.5-7.0 but should not change to sudden changes.----- dH: 4 degrees (with the pH conditions mentioned earlier the dH automatically drops to 4 degrees)----- Temperature: 75-82 degrees Farenheit----- Foods: small live foods, powdered flake, and freeze-dried foods.

The music being played now is called "I am King Henry the Eigth I am" done by the Herman's Hermits. Thanks to Barb Burman for this song info.
