Bettas & Paradise Fish
Bettas
Male Bettas in Thailand are put together to fight each other, tearing their fins. In an aquarium, don't keep more than one male Betta in one tank or bowl.
Also don't keep Bettas in little fist-sized bowls. Get a one gallon bowl or a 5-gallon tank or anything larger for the fish.
There are many forms of these fish like red, blue, green, yellow, black, Cambodian-black, gold, Variegated (Butterfly), pearly, lavender Cambodia, and others.
Note: these fish are not gouramis.
Care for this fish:
pH: 6.0-8.0----- dH: to 25 degrees----- Temperature: 75-86 degrees Farenheit----- Foods: Freeze-dried foods, flakes, and live foods.
Paradise
Fish
Paradise fish are very hardy. They can tolerate temperatures down to 59 degrees Farenheit and have been known to survive the temperature of 41 degrees Farenheit. They are also jumpers so keep a tight cover over the tank.
But they are aggressive to smaller fish and adult males fight as badly as male Bettas.
Care is:
pH: 6.0- 8.0----- dH: to 30 degrees----- Temperature: 61-79 degrees Farenheit----- Foods: flakes, tablets, live foods.
Note: there are albino and black forms of the Paradise fish.
