Well, here it finally
is! We just got home a few days ago,
we sold our boat and
had to rush to empty and
clean it for the closing,
and now we leave
on Wednesday to get
our new one!
So whirlwind city it
is here in Miami....
I want you to know, that
Maz actually gave me a sign,
probably her way of
saying lets get going
with the memorial already,
and that is when the poem got written.
I was sitting on my boat
in the Atlantis Marina, in Nassau.
IT was an extraordinary
day, crystal clear water,
blue blue skies, lovely
tropical music in
the background, and
very very hot :-)
I was just daydreaming,
enjoying the view and very
grateful for having
the luck of being there,
when all of a sudden,
my view was
obstructed by a most
magnificent arrival.
Right before me , in
all her grace and power,
a beautiful ship came
rolling in. It was magnificent,
about 4 stories tall,
bright white with shiny
silver rails and fittings,
and it moved ever
so slowly, with such
grace, so proud. I kept
watching, in awe, and
then smiled with such
a warm memory, as the
name of the boat
appeared. It was,
"Aussie Rules!" I just knew
it was Maz, I stood
right up and gave her a salute,
welcomed her, and told
her how beautiful she was!
I just couldn't
stop smiling, and I ran inside to
get my pad and pen,
and followed with the
poem I had been thinking
about for months.
So, here it is, my tribute
to Maz, from me
and all the women of
the ovarian discussions list.
I feel more complete
now. And you know what?
She stayed only
about 2 hours, then she pulled away!
Wow, what a day, and
you know, she looked
just like her picture,
what a tremendous smile
and glow about her :-)
Thanks for keeping in
touch - Amy Freund
Oh, and by the way, how
fitting - I found out
the boat actually belongs
to Greg Norman, from Australia (the golfer!)
I caught her out of
the corner of my eye,
She moved in awesome
grace -
The power of her
presence,
moved me to a race,
For pad and pen to
capture
just the words I've
longed to say,
Our amazing Maz in
all her glory
came to visit me
today!
The wind gently caresses
as the sun keeps
warm my heart,
and rekindles all
the memories of our Maz,
right from the start.
It was her sassiness
in character
and the gleaming
in her eyes,
that drew us to her
spirit,
and made us want
to try.
It was her caring
way of speaking
never pushy but with
grit,
that made us know
that from
this Aussie Lass
we'd benefit.
And that we did in
ways unique
to each and everyone,
To know our Maz was
to share
a connection to laughter,
love and fun.
Maz has left behind
something
for each of us to
hold,
Something that's
quite personal,
and to each of us
is gold.
It's memory - and
for each of us
is different yet
the same,
For peace is universal
and Hey Mate, the
name of the game!
