Hi! I'm Quin-cy

This is me and my Mom and my pet kid. As you can probably tell I sure do make them happy. But you know what...they made me the happiest bird in the world on Christmas Eve 1999. Thats the day that I found my home and family.

Here is the story of how I got my family for Christmas as told by my Mom, Suzie.

I used to stop off at a Petco on the way home from dropping off Shaun for school each morning and I seemed to stop in there about once a week. Well there was this one Quaker and it was in an aquarium with just one perch in it and no toys. The aquarium was about the size of a 10 gallon. Much too small. Well the weeks kept going by and still nobody bought her. I started complaining and got them to at least put a toy in there for her. Well, she was in there for about 9 weeks total and I did not have the money to buy her nor a cage. My boyfriend gave me money for Christmas and we celebrated it early on Christmas Eve, before the store closed. I had just been up there a few days before and started crying just thinking of her being there on Christmas Eve. No love or anything. So as soon as he gave me the money he said are you going to go and get the Quaker? I said YES! He had gone up there earlier in the day, but she did not look all that great so he was not sure I wanted her. He did not buy her. As soon as he asked about the Quaker my son Shaun and I, still in my houseslippers ran up there and bought her. The manager swore to me that she was only there for 2 weeks, when I went back a week later. I keep checking to be sure they don't have anymore. The salesgirl who was about 18 years old, said she kept saving money out of her check to try and buy her because she felt so sorry for her. She knew the truth. Now she has it made, but does not like Quakie and is afraid of new people and flies away from them....only a foot or so as her wings are clipped. She now has 12 toys in her cage and is in a 22 x 22 x 56 cage with a foldout playtop. She loves it and is very sweet. She does not talk yet. The vet says she's about Quakies age 10-11 months old. She's very sweet. I do wish they got along though. Well, that is her story and Quakie is teaching her to act like a parrot. Pick up things with her foot and eat it. She still walks like a reptile straight up in the air. It is so cute. She does not bulldoze like Quakie does. She was the best Christmas present I could have hoped for.

Quin-cy here...and getting my very own family was the best Christmas present I could have hoped for.

What a yummy rope..a bird can never have enough toys, you know?
