My Goats
My Goats

I presently have two goats.  One is a 3 year old LaMancha wether named Master Merlin.  I got him one summer, after I decided that I wanted a goat.  I knew nothing about goats at this time, but I have slowly gotten to know more.  I still have a long way to go though.  Merlin got his name after we witnessed his escaping abilities; he was able to jump a 6 foot high fence with no difficultly.  Once he was out of his pen, he wouldn't run away, but simply come up on the deck to the house to greet us.  Having goats has made our lives a bit more interesting, people never know what those animals out back are.  Most are quite surprised to find that it's a goat, and a goat with no ears draws alot of attention.  A lot of people think that I have cut his ears off, and they are intrigued to find that LaManchas are born this way.  Ohh well...  They'll get used to it sooner or later.  I had the idea that I wanted to get another goat this spring.  My parents didn't quite like the idea, but when a 6 month old Pygmy goat was offered to me, they didn't refuse.  Lord Riley is now 2 years old. Also, since Merlin has had Riley as a friend, he hasn't been trying to escape his pen to find us!  My project now is training Merlin to harness.  I have made his harness myself, and am now working on making the cart.  I hope that I will learn alot during this, and have fun doing it.
