2000 DISNEY VACATION

Day 1 – August 21st/00

We arrived at ASMov about 4:00 in the afternoon.  What a coincidence, check in time!  (I swear I didn’t plan that!)  We checked in without too much trouble, and off to our room we went.

Boy, was I ever pleasantly surprised!  We don’t travel much, and when we do, we usually go cheap (standard double room), since our logic is that we don’t spend much time in the room on vacation, other than to sleep.  After hearing about how tiny the AS rooms were, I was setting myself (and my family) up for a REALLY tiny room.  On the drive to Orlando, we made 2 stops, and each motel I would say, “Remember, our Disney motel room will be even smaller than this!”  Well, it wasn’t!  It was just as big, in fact even bigger than one of them!  So we didn’t mind at all.  It was a wonderful start.

What beautiful rooms they have!  We were in the Toy Story building #10 ground floor, and the room was so clean, so bright, so cheery, so Disney!  I absolutely loved it!  And the grounds, well I can’t praise enough!  Beautiful, beautiful theming!  The only complaint I would have is that the walk to Cinema Hall (just between World Premiere and the Fantasia pool) there was an awful sour smell in the air.  Not sure what caused it (hopefully not the food!) <g>

The girls, of course, had to immediately go swimming, while Gary and I walked and admired the grounds.  We took lots of pictures, and even Gary had to admit the motel was beautifully themed.

After a couple of hours, we rounded up the girls, and decided to go to World Premier for dinner.  I don’t remember what we all had, but I know Gary was most definitely NOT impressed with the food.  I know he had chicken strips.  Actually, I don’t think any of us really had our fancy tickled by the food there.  The meal came to 39.42 including tax.  (This included 2 unlimited refill mugs).

We then went to check out Donald’s Double Feature (the ASMov gift store).  I bought a few postcards, and stamps (4.62 including tax).

We then went back to our room for an early night, because tomorrow would be an early one!
