back to the gerbils!

This is how a 'gerbilarium' might develop within a week...

Starting with a clean and tidy home - one third sand, one and a half third wooden bedding, some hay, stones and wooden houses - we end up with something undefinable.

Some additional parts are added from day to day: A huge branch, another wooden house, some more straw tubes, toilet paper rolls or fresh hay.

Some parts have to be removed while others are gnawed away: Unfortunately the straw tubes contain metal parts for more stability!

Other elements just seem to vanish into thin air... Where does all the hay go during a day?

The tank is getting messier and messier from day to day! Where did the sand go? Wasn't there another tube anywhere? Where should I put the food if the stones are always covered with some stuff?

CLEAN UP YOUR ROOM!!!

Nobody seems to be listening. Hello? Is there anybody in here?! No chance...

Can YOU still remember how it used to look like? It's only a few days ago since the tank was cleaned and done all fresh...

Unbelieveable, isn't it?

P.S.: This tank is the home of Marla, Merlin and their pups. It is a 69 gal tank (140x45x50 cm) with a selfmade cat- and gerbil-proof top that has two hinges in the middle to allow a comfortable opening.

I'm planning to add a second level, but didn't have the time to visit a glazier yet...

Of course I will present some new pictures as soon as the new platform is added !
