Hi, My name is Lucky. I have a really good life now, but if you read the story below, you will see I did not have a very good start. I am now a healthy 65 lbs. and still growing from what I hear my Mom & Dad say. I am still a puppy who likes to play 24/7, isn't that what life is all about??? I am sorry to say that I had a bad fight with my Minpin brother Max. He just didn't want to give me what he was chewing on, and I really wanted it. So I got mad and we got into a big fight. I know I really scared my Mom & Dad, I hope they know I am sorry. Anyway, Max doesn't like me anymore (the little squirt)and my Mom and Dad decided that we couldn't live together anymore.
So guess what? I now have a new Mom & Dad & Uncle, Nancy, Phil & Gene, and the best part is that I am just across the street from my first Mom & Dad. I really like it here. I now get attention 24 hours a day with no little munchkins to get in the way. My dad Phil & my Uncle Gene are home with me all day and I love it. We play together in the backyard all the time. Best of all, I still get to see my first Mom & Dad whenever I want to!
I am really sorry that me & Max did not get along and I do miss him and Nikki & Dallas, but I am really happy here in my new house.
Lucky, the Little Guy!
My name is Lucky. My mom and dad really knew what they were doing when they decided to call me that. I'm not sure how old I am, but I will tell you what I remember. I was left by some mean person at an animal shelter in North Carolina. The same day, this really nice lady name Teresa was there. The shelter did not know what to do with me because I was very sick and very skinny. Mommy Teresa took me home. She did not know how to feed me (because she is a Lab Lover) so she posted my story on the AOL Minpin Board. It was then that Auntie Petie saw my story and put the message on the Minpin list.
From there the message went to all the great people on the list. That's where my current Mom & Dad step in. Mom knew that Dad had a soft heart so she left my story out for him to read. He told Mom that they could adopt me. (They already had Max & Nikki, my brother & sister) They got in touch with Petie and Teresa & Liz and things were under way. They were going to meet Teresa in North Carolina and pick me up on Sunday.
Saturday night I got real sick. I could'nt go to the bathroom and my stomach really hurt. So Mom Teresa called Mom & Dad and told them I needed an operation. I had the operation, boy did it hurt. They put these big metal things in my stomach. Uck! Mom & Dad met Teresa on Sunday afternoon and they brought me home. Once home, I got really sick again and Mom took me to the hospital. They kept me there overnight. They stuck me with all kinds of needles and put this big tube in my neck.
The next day, I still did not feel good. My stomach hurt really bad and my temperature was really low. Mom took me to see Dr. Sigel. He told Mommy that he was not sure what was wrong with me and said he should do another operation. It was really scary. I don't remember much about it, but I do know they took those metal things out and did something else. My Mommy and Daddy came and got me and took me home that night.
I am starting to feel a little better now. Not great, but I think that I am going to be ok. My Mom says I still have a long way to go, but I know I'm gonna make it.
After all, I don't want to disappoint all the Good People from the Minpin List.
Update! Lucky is doing GREAT!
9/25/98 - Lucky weighed 6.25 lbs at the vet today and has been removed from the "sick puppy" list. He was given his official goodie box and his first set of puppy shots. Although we are still medicating him for a while longer, he is gonna do fine. We are all very happy here at the Giammusso house and look forward to many happy years with Max, Nikki & Lucky.
Update! 10/19/98
Lucky now weighs 13 lbs. And look at those paws! That is Max standing next to him and you can clearly see the difference. Lucky is on the right! We think he is gonna be a big boy. Not so sure he's a minpin now. But we still love him. He is doing fantastic.
Update! Lucky is a Doberman!
12/18/98 - We have finally given up hope that Lucky is a BIG minpin. We have come the the conclusion that he is gonna be a full grown Doberman. That of course is not a bad thing, it only makes for less room in bed at night. He is doing great, just got neutered last week. Gets along great with Max & Nikki. He told me that he is just about ready to start writing his own stories, so look for them in the future.
