Welcome to the Wildlife Rehabilitation Nusery. The Wildlife Rehabilitation Clinic is a non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating animals that are in distress or who are orphans. On this page, you will find pictures of the orphans who are being cared for in order to be released back into the wild where they belong. These are Not pets, and only someone who is trained in handling them should attempt to pick a baby up. Often times, what apears to be an orphan is not. More times than not the mother will be away from the nest out hunting. Especially in the case of rabbits. You should never disturb a baby's nest unless you know for sure that the mother is dead. Also, in the case of baby possums which are carried inside the mothers pouch, it is possible for the older babies to survive for up to 48 hours even after the mother is dead. |

The cottontails on the left are almost ready to be released. It is very important to not handle them because they can die of stress. So they must be kept in a dark and quiet place and be released as soon as possible. The raccoon kits on the right are around 2 weeks old and are completely helpless. They must be fed several times a day and be burped just like a human baby. Many times the raccoon mother is trapped or killed and then only later it is discovered that she had babies. It is then up to us to raise them and release them into the wild as far away from humans as possible. |

Believe it or not, these opossums are around a month old. They begin life the size of the tip of your little finger without any hair and are called "pinkies". When they outgrow the mothers pouch and begin to ride on her back, they are called "joeys". |
