Xena, Nala and Bailey were Labradors at a kill shelter whose time was up. We put them on the Internet and a lady from
Connecticut and a man from Massachusetts responded. After much conversation and messaging it was agreed that the lady from Connecticut would meet me at my favorite McDonalds and adopt one of them. The problem was which
one? She called CT Lab Rescue and they agreed to take one of them so I was to bring two. But what about the third? She and the man from Massachusetts agreed that she would bring all three and he would drive to her house
to look at them. If he liked one, he would adopt it, and if not she would find it another home. So, this wonderful lady rented a minivan and drove from Connecticut to North Carolina to pick up the three labs! I had
three labs, a sheepdog and a German shepherd puppy in the Blazer on that trip, so I'm crazy, but I only had to drive three hours--she had to drive 12 plus hours with them!! As it turned out, none of the three was the
right fit for her or for the man from MA., but all three were saved as a result of what she describes as her "adventure." She placed Xena with a friend who is reported to be "over-the-moon" about
her, Bailey with CT Lab rescue, and Nala with a lady who cried when she had to leave her (before the adoption was finalized). |
