Luke is a Chesapeake Bay Retriever who was picked up as a stray. He had a collar with a hook for a tag, but the tag was lost
somewhere along the way. No one claimed him, so we set out to contact CBR Rescue. Finding no listings, we contacted a CBR breeder who gave us a rescue name in Florida. She went to work on it and found a rescue person in
Winston Salem. She really didn't have room for him but agreed to take him anyway in the hope that she could find a home quickly. We had his vet work done here and drove him up to meet her at our favorite McDonalds near
Raleigh (those people must wonder why I keep coming there with different dogs!). She thought she had found a home for him--introductions were to be made that night, but she was concerned because he was skinny and
smelly. Not to worry, his new owner loved him, and he spent the first night in his new home draped across his new Dad in bed. Apparently love overpowers smelly. Luke has gained weight and now goes to the park with his
Dad and brothers--two other CBR's. He runs and plays with the best of them, but is reported to always be the first one back to his dad's side when called. Luke knows a good thing when he sees one!
