Flash is a dark brindle 1/4 African female from my first litter.  My plans had been not to keep any puppies from this litter but I found myself one day telling her not to worry as she wasn’t going anywhere!

Flash almost left at one point when I was contacted and told that a long time breeder in England had seen her puppy picture and wished to buy her.  Oh what a decision to make.  If she went to England she could be the first brindle to be shown there, but how could I part with my sweet girl?  I made several phone calls to friends trying to make my decision.

Finally Mike Work said something to me that I have not forgotten.  He told me to think of it this way “ a year from now you could have spent the money.  Or a year from now you could look out your window and see your dog.  I think I know you well enough by now to know which you would rather do.”  I realized that Mike was right and I made the call telling them that Flash was not for sale.

When my handler moved out of state and was no longer available to show my Basenjis for me, Mike Work and Nina Work, took over and showed my dogs for me.  They handled Flash to her conformation championship and she became the 3rd brindle bitch in the United States to earn her title.

When the time came for me to make a decision to breed Flash for the first time I selected a brindle male that soon after became the first brindle male in the world to win a Best In Show - Ch. Changa’s Dan Patch, JC.  Their litter arrived on December 9, 1993, and consisted of 3 brindle girls.

Possum Creek’s Brass Ring (Daisy)- the first brindle bitch to be imported to Australia. Daisy's first litter by Best In Show Aust. Ch. Tamsala Shenandoa Shade produced 6 puppies, all brindles, including Aust. Ch. Debrak Maid In The Shade (Mei). In February 1999, Mei became the first brindle bitch to earn a conformation championship title in Australia. Mei was bred and is owned by Elizabeth Jackson, Debrak Basenjis, Western Australia.

Possum Creek’s All Patched Up (Eliza) - one of the first Basenjis and brindles to be imported to Argentina.

Possum Creek’s Lil Bit O’Kountry (Bitsy)- dam of Kountry’s Striped to Perfection, Best Puppy at the African Exhibition, Basenji Club of America National Specialty, July 1996.

Flash was bred in 1998 to Ch. Eldorado’s Adonis for her 2nd litter.  This was a 1/4 African, brindle to brindle breeding.  The litter was born on December 5 (Flash’s birthday!) and consisted of 5 puppies - 3 brindle dogs, 1 red dog, and 1 brindle bitch.
