Pot Roast

1 chuck roast
1 potato per person
2 carrots per person
1 small onion per person
sear roast in skillet on both sides & edges
put in heavy pot & cover with water
simmer 2 hours
put rest of cut up vegetables in & cover
simmer for 1/2 to 1 hour
don't add vegetables for me
I prefer just the meat & broth.

I was born in February 1993 and lived
with a very nice couple. They
treated me like their baby.
They did send me off to get spayed
and declawed though. I had
 a wonderful year there.
They had a baby and listened to the old
tales about cats smothering a baby
and causing allergies. They put me in
a carrier and took me to a store
that sold animals. There I was put
in a cage with a sign "Free to a
good home". I was very upset, scared,
and lonely. A women came in to pick up
her orange kitten. Her friend called her over
to see me. She said "Oh no. I can't
 leave her here." A short time later I was
in a car heading for my new home.

I arrived at my new home to find that
orange  kitten now named Tigger
Too and another cat named Cat2.
Boy, did she act like queen of
the roost but she didn't object
to me, just ignored me. The only
thing I heard her say was
"Oh, another one." The hair was off
the inside of my front
legs and the next day Mom took
me to a vet. The people at
the place where she got me had
told her it was because
I drank  water by letting it drip
from a faucet on those places
and then licked it off.
She didn't believe them. The vet
said it was a dermatology problem
and recommended one that 
charged
$160 an hour. Mom choked on
that and decided to wait
a few weeks to see if the problem disappeared.
Believe it or not, it did.
I hid under her bed the first three months
only coming out to eat
or use the kitty litter.
Everyone wanted to pet me but
I was afraid I'd be sent away again.
I got tired of it after a while
and came out for good. 

It's been a quiet and peaceful place
and Cat2 and I are friends. It gets noisy
when Curtis is home
or Rashan is here but that's okay.
I heard Ra ask one time 
after he'd been quiet for five minutes
"Grandma, is this the peas and quiet you
talk about?". Well that's my story and
it's not as eventful as Cat2's is but it fits
me. I'm quieter and more gentle and I'm loved here.

Cat2 and I went with Mom to some faery sites and
we adopted our own faeries. Here's my pixie.
