Hana Hou to Andrew

The literal translation of Hana is hand and Hou is new.
So, put your hands together and let's hear it for Andrew.

"Encore, Andrew! Encore."

Andrew Hiraoka
-
Born in 1964, this active and charismatic man was silenced by brain injury in 1997. Now relying on his creativity to communicate, Andrew selects colors as confidently as he once chose words. His skill overpowers his physical limitations to create extrordinary canvas dialogs.

From tranquil white canvas Andrew argues a point or whispers his thoughts in strokes and hues. The unexpected color mass shifts, vibrates and mingles, forming new relationships with its audience. Listen with all your senses, Andrew Hiraoka has always been a master of communication.

Selecting colors as carefully as he once chose words, voice raised with brushes of determination and courage, he speaks to us with ambitious expressions of complicated themes simplified in his paintings. His work transcends the present moment and its content resonates long after your experience. Andrew invites you to participate in a unique conversation with him.

The eyes say it all.

"The Owl"
for Mom's collections.

Long ago, Andrew saved a cat.
He brought the scawney kitty home and nursed it back to health.
