I cannot remember not having at least one dog around the house, even as a child. It all started with my Dad who had Airedale Terriers. Can you believe he only paid $1.00 for his first dog?
Then it was my turn I jumped into the dog fancy with both feet. I started out with Shelties and later moved on to a Collie. It didn't take long for me to realize these two breeds weren't for me. We did a bit of winning with them, but it seemed we were always getting beat by the same breed of dog. Well, you know how the saying goes....."if you cant beat'em, join em", So I did!!
It didn't take long at all for me to fall in love with the German Shepherd Dog. We began in the breed with Ch. Neva Von Neuweiser. The first thing I knew we were winning groups left and right, and by year's end she was 7th in breed pts for Canada. This was back in the days when the GSD was in the working group, where even getting a group placement among that many breeds was difficult. We were very proud of Neva and all that she had accomplished for us.
The next year it was on to bigger and better things - we won our first Best In Show, 3 Best Puppy in Show's and Best in Specialty Show. In 1989 I was given a puppy who changed our lives here at Cedarisle. What an awsome puppy she was! At just 6 months of age she finished her championship in style winning a 5 pt major under a breeder judge at an All-Breed Show, and the next weekend taking another 5 pt major win at a Specialty Show, beating 26 bitches for the pts. Her name was Ch. Lindger's Da Je Vue, who you can see on my Tributes page. We have had our ups and downs and heartaches just like so many other breeders, but we have carried on for the love of the breed. I'm extremely pleased with my current dogs, and expect them to accomplish great things. It has now been 18 years since a Collie breeder told me 'you can have your shepherds and their HIGH FLYING TROT' It was the best advice I've ever received! You know something - that high flying trot has never failed to amaze me, and I could watch them float 'round the ring forever. |

At Cedarisle, we are committed to the improvement of the breed, and we have set a stringent standard to breed by. All of our breeding stock are x-rayed hips and elbows, as well as being tested for blood and immune disorders prior to breeding. One other major concern is temperament, and with this in mind our puppies are tested at 8 weeks of age for any faults in temperament.
Because Cedarisle is a small kennel we only breed once a year with the hope we can find great homes for our puppies. Before each puppy is sold we check each home to ensure it is a safe and suitable environment and talk extensively with the prospective owner to best match the personality of the puppy with it's new owner.
We are a "hands on" type of kennel, willing to provide any assistance we can to our puppy owners. To this end we are available to answer questions and provide support at *any* time, as well as checking back with the new owner two weeks after they take their new family member home and once a month there after. Our kennel motto is: We sell the Best and Keep the Rest! |
