Hints & Tips with Netherland Dwarf Rabbits
- Get a Leash and Harness. These help you keep control of your rabbit – and then it can walk around outside (if you don’t use pesticide on the lawn) or if you are holding him/her and he/she jumps you can hold the leash and keep her/him down.
- Keep them out of dogs’ view. They can snap their back in surprise
- Get a cage with a removable tray at the bottom. Fill the tray with non-scented kitty litter. Then your bunny can stay in its cage while you take off the tray, wash, rinse, and put more litter in.
- Handle young Dwarfs often and gently but firmly. The more you handle them the easier it becomes – for both of you!
- Even if you don’t want to show or breed your rabbit, select a good breeder and a nice looking rabbit. If you get a better rabbit there is less of a chance for hereditary illness or defects.
- Get a side-held dispenser for hay. This way you don’t have to keep it on the cage floor and have the rabbit urinate and defecate all over it.
- Use a water bottle attached to the side of a wire cage instead of a crock. These don’t get stuff in them – especially kits!!!
