!! NEW TITLE IN NEW JERSEY !!
Dotted Dog Dominates as Black & White Bags Blue!
Rotties Rumble to Rainbow of Ribbons!
Dateline - 11/01/98 Willingboro, NJ
Team Spot and the ESP Rottweilers returned to NJ this weekend for
agility trials sponsored by the Burlington County Kennel Club.
The question was on everyone's mind: Could the Mottled Marvel recover
>from last weekend's Dalmatian Doldrums to finish her Open Title?
The answer was a resounding "YES" which came in the form of a
magnificent CLEAN run with a score of 100, and a time of 53 seconds on
a 67 second course for a FIRST PLACE BLUE RIBBON and with it the "Open
Agility" title (OA) which has been so elusive!
Picture the scene - a clear, crisp Autumn day, the course is set and the
Determined Dalmatian makes her way to the starting line. Off she goes
like a Black & White Blur - a jump, a tunnel, a seesaw, the table - and,
oh what a table! The Dynamite Dalmatian hit the table running full
speed and immediately went into a "down" - as the judge counted down the
seconds, the Devilish Dalmatian looked over her left shoulder at this
writer and the ESP handlers with a cool, calculated gaze which seemed to
say " you want weave poles? - I'll give you weave poles!" - and off she
went into a perfect performance on 12 weave poles and on to finish the
course with no faults! The fans went wild! The Spotted Sensation left
the course and ran to her reward - a pig's ear! Her Blue First Place
Ribbon proudly decorating her cage!
Alas, she couldn't maintain momentum for Open JWW and was eliminated on
two refusals! Hopefully, the Dotted Delight will be accepted into the
Cleveland show scheduled for December so she can take another crack at a
final leg in Open JWW.
Making the trip with the Black & White Beauty this week were Rotty pals
Levi, Radar, Bubbles, & Gator.
On Saturday Leapin' Levi launched his way to a SECOND PLACE finish in
Excellent Standard for another Master's Leg, while Radar rolled to a
THIRD PLACE finish in Excellent JWW for another JWW Master's leg. Levi
took a FOURTH PLACE finish in Excellent Standard on Sunday.
Bubbles & Gator both ran into bad luck and were both "NQ" in all events
on both days! As usual, Bubbles had fun doing it and her handler was
pleased with her efforts. The Princess posted an "NQ" in Open Standard
on Sunday owing to two missed contact zones - still, she ran the 72
second course in 56 seconds!
All in all, the gang brought home Blue, Red, Yellow, & White ribbons to
cover the whole spectrum of placements!
The wait is on now to find out who gets into the "big" show in Cleveland
in early December. Word is that there were several thousand entries and
the club out there is attempting to get permission from th AKC for more
rings & more judges!
In the meantime, Team Spot will be practicing agility to keep the edge
and entering some obedience matches in an attempt to prepare Her
Highness for CDX competition.
Stay tuned to ASN for updates as events unfold!
(P.S.- Spot's Spot of the Week for dining out is: Elaine's Cooler at
the NJ Show. Seems the Mottled Meal Monger demonstrated her nasal
dexterity by popping open the cooler lid with her snout and helping
herself to the ring bologna
inside! )
