WINNERS IN WILLIAMSPORT!
Dalmatian Diva and K-9 Companians
Cop Colors!
Dateline - 10/11/98 Williamsport, PA
A bevy of barking bowsers traveled to Williamsport, PA this weekend for
competition in Agility Trials sponsored b the Williamsport Dog Training
Club.
The Dynamic Dalmatian was joined by the following friends: Rottweilers
Levi, Radar, Bubbles, Gator, Ripken & Jennie, Corgi Tipper, Westie
Calsea, Aussie Sian, and Golden Brady, all who train at the ESP School
of Agility.
It was a stellar performance: Levi & Radar each took numerous ribbons,
including Firsts, Seconds, & Thirds in both Excellent Standard &
Excellent JWW. Both dad (Levi) & son (Radar) are now tied with 6 legs
each toward their Master titles. Gator completed her Open JWW title
with placing runs and took a Second in JWW on Sunday, along with
qualifying & placing runs in Excellent Standard. Ripkin, in his first
outing, took a leg in Novice Standard & a placing finish, Brady had a
qualifying run in Novice Standard for his first leg, as did Jennie who
took a 98 in Novice Standard in her first outing, which cost her a first
place finish and dropped her out of the placings, that's how tough the
competition was! Sian completed two Open Standard legs with placings
for her title, Calsea went home with first place Blue in one of her
events and had a placement in another, and Tipper took a First place in
Open JWW during one of her runs! Only Bubbles went home ribbonless -
although she had some outstanding runs including a perfect Novice JWW
run that ended with a wrong course for a back jump on the final obstacle
- automatic dsqualification!
The Spotted Spectacle was very focused and ran well, but had several
problems. An otherwise qualifying run in Open Standard on Saturday
went for naught when she failed to correct a wrong course and got
disqualified. ( Due to this correpondent's desire to preserve the
domestic tranquility no further comment will be made!) A slip on the
wet and muddy turf caused the Dynamite Dalmatian to crash an obstacle (a
rare & previously unseen event) in Open JWW on the same day, resulting
in an "NQ"!
On Sunday the Black & White Beauty had a nice run in Open Standard only
to lose out when the judge issued a questionable refusal call on her
approach to the pause table. But, the Determined Dalmatian came back
in the afternoon to grab a FOURTH PLACE finish and a second leg in Open
JWW, and with it a White Ribbon!
The Mottled Marvel now has two legs each in Open Standard and Open JWW
and needs one leg in each to finish her Open Title and move on to
excellent!
She has had placing finishes in all of her qualifying runs in the OPEN
classes!
The Delightful Dalmatian now has a week off before returning to
competition in Burlington, NJ on each of the last two weeks in October.
Team Spot will be training intensely to insure that the elusive third
legs are captured before the end of the season! ESP pals Levi, Radar,
Bubbles & Jennie are all expected to be in New Jersey to compete in
the same events. Remaining pals Tipper, Sian, Gator, Ripken, & Calsea
are all headed to the locker room for this season and are expected to
return to action in the Spring.
That's all for this week Spots Fans, ( or is that Sports Fans?) Stay
tuned to ASN for updates in two weeks as we continue to bring you on the
Spot coverage from any Spot at which Spot (and her pals) are competing
and to share with you the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat!!
