Boxertricks Boxers

In 1977 my brother and sister-in-law gave me a fawn/white boxer (Elvis), and at the time we went to select/collect him I also selected another from the same litter, who I named Aaron (brindle).

In 1982, for personal reasons I had to give both the dogs away and luckily, my mother adopted them so I knew they were going to a good home. Interestingly, during the period from my 1st boxer until this time, my uncle had owned 2 boxers (Rangi & Emma), my brother-in-law one boxer (Rommel) and my brother had purchased another, Shane (Jarika Tara Shane), who had been a successful show dog. He and his wife then had another boxer, Kismet (Karedon Kismet). Kismet was also shown but with minor success. The photo on the left is Tessie (left) and Shane and the photo on the right is Kismet and her favorite soft drink.

Aaron died in 1987 at 11 years of age and not long after, Elvis died in 1988, so not to be left without a dog, my wife and I travelled with mum and dad on a 260 km round trip to collect Bruce, a 14 month old brindle boxer needing a home. Bruce passed away in 1997 at the age of 10 and a half. In the photo on the right (taken 1991), Bruce is getting cuddles off Patrick, who was 2 and a half years old and who fell asleep while doing so. Boxers and kids do get along well!
