General Information about Windswept Equestrian Stables
Windswept Equestrian Stables opened in HoofBeats on August 5, 1998, becoming the first-ever barn to be started in the game. However, before that, WES had been a part of an incredible cyberbarn game, Horse Country, which had been divided into 5 sections - HOCK, MANE, REINS, TACK & SHOW. It was first built in HOCK as the Saddlery/Bridlery Stables on January 1, 1998, but it later moved to SHOW, renaming itself to the Country Rose Saddlery, before it finally moved to HoofBeats when Horse Country closed.
The Tirol, where Windswept Equestrian Stables is located in, is surrounded by majestic mountains, and we are famous here for our traditions and proud of our rich heritage. Found in the part where many tourists visit, our capital, Innsbruck, is Austria's most historic and renowned city after Vienna in Austria.
Though all and sundry at Windswept Equestrian Stables love to ride, that's not all we do! All who reside at WES learn to ski on the lovely ice-capped mountains here in no time at all, and in addition, we go for many mountaineering trips, and have done hand gliding, ballooning and went on the parapente (a steerable parachute :))! All these help to keep us in good shape for horse riding!
Traditional Celebrations at WES!
Windswept Equestrian Stables really loves good celebrations once in a while. As I've said, we're really proud of our heritage, so we usually take a few days off on Austrian festivals, for instance on these occasions:
Easter Sunday
I'm not going to mention too much about the religious part of this festival though it's splendid here. Well, here at WES, we have a Starlight Ride, with the best rider of the day leading the procession with a torch, after which it would be hurtled into the air, accompanied by beautiful Easter bonfire, also known as a "bonfire of joy". Naturally, a wonderful horse show would precede the Starlight Ride!June 21
We commemorate the longest day of the year with bonfires, music, parties and a great horse show!August 2
This festival, the Kranzelreiten, goes back to medieval days when the plague left only one marriageable girl in a village and three male survivors to contend for her hand. Today, this festival features a joust where men on horseback try to spear a ring, but as we are feminists here at WES(At least, the owners are), we've decided to host a horse show for males and females alike, and include a few more classes :)September 17
The Almabtrieb marks the end of a summer grazing season when herders bring down cattle from the mountain pastures for the coming winter. In custom, the leading cow in the procession is festooned with ribbons, but naturally here at WES, with people like me as the owner *evil grin*, we enjoy more novelty. Hence, we would have a very unique horse show, but yes, we stick to custom for the leading horse is definitely festooned with a blue ribbon!December 5 - January 6
Our Christmas season! Though, naturally, we don't take an entire month off, nor do we have a horse show for a month! Our horse show, the Christmas Extravaganza, lasts a mere day on December 25, and to celebrate Christmas Day, we'll definitely have a few special classes, so stay tuned!
Windswept Equestrian Stables has an excellent boarder program :) In Horse Country, all its boarders but one became counselors, and now in HoofBeats, it had produced 6 counselors currently...! Congratulations to Jo, Mari, Rose, Lady G, Ashley & Beth Ann on their new barns :)
