A Hearts Apart Morale Call is a government program. It gives dependents a chance to call call a loved one who's on an overseas TDY for more than 14 days, or have PCS'd to a (unacompanied) remote tour of duty.
WHO CAN USE THIS PROGRAM?
This program is open to all active duty military, DoD civillians and reservists.
HOW LONG IS THE CALL?
Most calls are from 10 - 15 minutes. Also some bases require you to have an access number to the program.
Each military installation has different policys about this program. Check with your local base family support center for more details.
WHAT INFORMATION WILL I NEED?
THE CALLS MUST BE PLACED THROUGH YOUR MILITARY INSTALLATION SWITCHBOARD OPERATOR.
1. The telephone number you are calling from.
2. Country and installation being called.
3. DSN (Defense Switch Network) your calling too.
{Your sponsor will provide you their DSN number}
4. Name & Rank of person being called.
The calls are designated "routine" priority and may be pre-empted by higher priority calls. Usually the operator is able to place the call right away, but if the call cannot be put through; its up to the dependent to call the operator back in order to have the call placed.
NOTE:
Each installation has its own policy concerning the Hearts Apart Morale Call Program. For example some bases require a control number, a certain time the calls may be placed, or the amount of time alloted for the call.
For more information on the Hearts Apart Morale Call Program; contact your local base family support center for your installations policy.
