Twas the night Before Christmas
- By David Teeman

Who was an MFT at LRAFB from 1979-1986.
He wrote this while on Alert at either 3-5 or 3-8, Dec 24th

Twas the night before Christmas,

And all through the site,

All was secure,

And strapped down real tight.

With my boots and my socks,

Shoved under my chair,

I was hoping the relief crew,

Soon would be there.

Gulping down coffee,

And thinking no harm,

What should occur?

But, a TPSy alarm.

Jumping to reset,

Hoping nothing was the matter,

From level 3,

There came such a clatter.

Heading for the stairs,

Thinking only, “What?”

I tumbled right down them,

and busted my…

But, looking up, I saw

A man dressed in red.

I pulled out my .38,

And aimed at his head.

He said, “Ho, ho, ho!”

“You have nothing to fear!”

But, I had already shot,

And hit his reindeer.

With his finger on his nose,

Up the escape hatch, he took flight,

Leaving behind his bag of,

Batteries, super-glue, and 60 watt lights.

Seeing these treasures,

Here at my feet,

I hid the supplies,

And cooked the deer meat.

When the relief crew finally arrived,

Later that day,

We said nothing of,

The fat man or his sleigh.

After change-over, and top-side,

Not wanting to stay,

We covered hoof prints and skid marks,

Leading out the back way.

With the gate fully closed,

And we ready to leave,

I remarked, “Not a bad alert!”

“That is, for Christmas Eve!”
