| And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.
Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures, And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. And ye are witnesses of these things. Lu 24:44-48 |

Casino Trip Update We once again had a very successful casino trip as we cleared $245.00 and nearly filled the bus. Thank you to all who participated! Vince Hanna regrets that he must step down as the coordination of the casino trips. Anyone interested in taking over is encouraged to contact the Post. Vince is willing to assist during the transition period. There is a missing glass-framed case, approximately 24" x 30", which contains the names of Medal of Honor winners and a drawing of the medal. This case was handcrafted and loaned to us by one of our fellow members, and he wishes to have it returned. If you have any knowledge of the missing case, please contact the Post. When Children Kill The recent tragedy in Jonesboro, Arkansas, is but a single event in a series of tragedies in which we have lost children to violence at schools. A new era of safety measures such as metal detectors and school security seemingly cannot keep pace with the ever-present threat. It has been said that the worst pain a person can suffer is the loss of a child, and along the same line, there is no greater love than that between a mother and her child. The parental pain runs both ways in tragedies where children commit murder. In a recent article in the Philadelphia Inquirer, Jane Eisner states, "I don't know what causes more pain: the thought of parents losing children so senselessly, or the thought of other parents that their children were the killers." So how do we punish these child offenders? This question has no single answer - no "correct" solution for all cases. When thinking about this issue, we are confronted with two children who cry themselves to sleep every night in their prison cells, while the families of the victims cry for their lost loves. The better question instead may be, "How many more tragedies must we endue before we take a serious look at the moral fabric of this country?" I do not expect the government or society to raise and discipline our children; this must first begin in the home. I do wonder how much longer parents can continue to raise their children in a home environment where video games and television takes precedence over daily prayer and Bible study. Time to go tuck the kids in bed with a prayer. |
