Gents, I just read the list of your attendees from your latest reunion. Ken Stormer and I served with Divarty Avn (Phu Loi and Lai Khe, crewing OH-13's and later, OH-6a's) until his transfer to the cav. The word we got (mid 69) was that he had been KIA. About five days prior to my release from the army at Ft Hood, Tx I was Pleasantly shocked to run into him. If at all possible I would like to contact him, or have him contact me. Email is probably best: [email protected]. Thanks, Bill Eaton Custer 296 HHB 1 inf Divarty Aug68-Aug69

Hello all!! Just wanted to say that what a GREAT web site you've put together!! I was gunner on Guardian 6 with Col.Whiteheadin late '70-'71,& then with Col. Tolafa until '72, until I got my transfer over to DARKHORSE. After comming home, I haven't heard nything or of anyone in almost 30 yrs.,until a few days ago when one of the crew-chiefs, & old friend told me about this website. Please contact if there is to be a future reunion, because I would be happier than a 'pig in mud' to see you brothers again!! br>

Great site! Glad to see that the 16th Cav is remembered. I was a member of the 16th Cav in Can Tho from Sept 0f 70 - Sept of 72. I was a turbine engine mechanic in the unit and replaced more than my share of T63's. I remember a lot of the guy's in the p ctures you have. Does anyone remember Rock taking out the fan with his Tommy-gun? Keep up the good work, Great Site!

Great, Great, page. Had wondered for many years about a friend from high school. Found him listed at your site. Just got the old high school yearbook out. Sure brought back a lot of great memories. He was CWO2 William "Bill" Royal from Screven, Georgia. Killed March 20, 1971, but will never be forgotten.

Very good page! I am 23 year old boy from Finland and I am interested reading about helicopter pilots in Vietnam war. This page reflects your sense of humour and good relations between pilots and crewmembers in C troop 16 Air Cav. I liked the pictures very much. I have recently read Easy Target which have been written by Scout pilot Tom Smith. This book woke my interest about AeroScouts in Vietnam. I have planned to read Low Level Hell by Hugh Mills Jr.

I was with C Troop in '70 - '71. Four Horsemen slicks. Both in Soc Trang and Can Tho. Was CE, then Platoon leader briefly in '71. My gunner walked into a tail rotor and lived to tell about it. Got shot down twice. Ran out of fuel once. Will look for info n old letters home. I also have some photos. I'll dig all that stuff up and post it. later. -Ken

I,m the "gun captain" who put the L-19 pods on the loach. Kept the Colonel out of the hangar while I was working on that one. Also scared the hell out of the real scout pilots I flew wing on for a while. I love you Outcasts!

I wanted to let you know I really enjoyed your page to honor those men who fought with you.
I found it to be very interesting to view and the pictures were great to give us knowledge of what you did over there.
My oldest son leaves today for the Army and enlisted for the Cav Scout.
Thanks for sharing your pages with us.

Excellant site, I hope it will bring the DARKHORSE family closer together. Me? 1st Tour - B 2/34Armor, M48A3 tank crewmember. Operated out of Lai Khe and Dau Tieng in 69. 2nd Tour - Feb 70 assigned to D 1/4Cav, OUTCASTS platoon, arrived in time to see the 1/4Cav colors go home and the rest of us sent to the Delta as C/16. Flew with Willis, Parsons, Curtis, Baker and others, got shot down three times and came home without a scratch. As of 4/98, am alive in Arizona with 230% Service Connected Disability due to cancer from Agent Orange. Hell, I'm not only happy to be alive at 48, but to have served with the best damn helicopter outfit in Nam.
