THE HIGH DESERT COMPETITIVE SHOOTING CLUB

Winner of the 1998 McVey Memorial Trophy Match.

Col Lennox our Chief of Staff and strong supporter of competitive marksmanship delivers the trophy to Gary Rasmussen

Doyle D. Gracey began the McVey Trophy Match in 1970.  McVey was a former range Officer at 29 Palms.  At the time of the creation of the match, there was only one trophy to be won at 1000 yards and that was the Stockinger Trophy.  Gunner Gracey created the McVey to compete with the Stockinger because the Stockinger could only be won by a civilian.  McVey was stationed at 29 Palms as the Range Officer. He lost his life in the Korean Conflict.  Gunner Gracey attempted to contact McVey's family to inform them of the Memorial Trophy but was unsuccessful.  We will continue to honor his memory and that of all of our fallen brothers long into the future.
