
ALL HANDS: A mandatory function that require all Marines to be present and invloves training.
APR: Accessions pre recruiter. The average number of net new contracts produced per recruiter over a period of time
AREA CANVASSING: Meeting likely prespects face to face and obtanining their names and sufficient information for follow-up.
ASVAB: Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery. This test derermines an applicant's mental qualifications for enlistment.
BUDDY PROGRAM: A special program that allows two or more people who sign up to begin recruit training together.
CAREER RECRUITER: primary MOS of 8412.
CO: Commanding Officer
CONTRACT: An applicant enlistment, or reenlistment into the regular Marine Corps Reserve. A recruiter receives credit for a contract when an individual enlists for the Delayed Entry Program, or enters directly on active duty.
DEP: Delayed Entry Program. Allowa a prospect to enlist now and depart for recruit training within 365 days.
DEP DISCHARGE: the discharge of poolees from the delayed entry program. May be due to a variety of reasons that prevent applicant from fulfilling his/her contact. Expressed as a percentage.
DEPER: Person in Delayed Entry Program.
DEPER: Expressed as a percentage, the number of MCRD discharges divided by the total number shipped for a specified period.
DIRECT MARKET: Contracts that ship in current month.
DONUT: 0 contracts for the month.
FRO: Family Readiness Officer, normally the RS Executive Officer.
GOV: Government vehicle.
HV: Home visit. A visit to a house never visited before to try and contact a prospect whom he have never talked before.
MEPS: Military Entrance Processing Station. The station that tests, physicals, and enlists individuals into the service.
MCRD: Marine Corps Recruit Depot.
MISSION: To attain assigned enlisted shipping and contracting quotas by catergory on a monthly and yearly basis.
NWA: New working applicant.
NCOIC: Noncommissioned Officer-In-Charge.
ON DECK: At MEPS to process for enlistment into DEP or to ship.
OT: Office Traffic.
PAR TRAINING: Proficiency and Review is a training program to determine the proficiency level of new recruiters and to review essential tasks that a recruiter must be able to do well in order to be successful. Normally conducted within 30 days of checking into the RS.
PARENTAL CONSENT: Applicants who are 17 years of age must have written consent of their parent or legal guardian in order to enlist.
PHASE LINE: A weekly contract objective to ensure that the new contract mission will be achieved by the end of the month.
POOLEE: An enlistee in the DEP>
RI: Recruiter instructor.
RS: Recruiting Station.
RSS: Recruiting Sub-Station.
SCREENING: Screening is the process of weeding out prospects obviously unqualified for mental, moral or physical reasons.
SDA: Specail Duty assignment pay.
SHIPPING: Involves bringing individuals onto active duty and sending them to recruit training. Occurs at the MEPS.
TC: Telephone call. The act of calling a prospect on the phone to schedule and appoinment to discuss enlistment.
WAIVER: Approval to enlist despite disqualifying factors.
