The MARFOR Surgeon, the MEF surgeon, the Division Surgeon, the Group Surgeon, the Regimental Surgeon, and the Battalion Surgeon are all medical officers. They are all responsible for advising the Marine Corps commander at their level on matters relating to the health of the command, medical logistics, patient movement, preventive medicine, medical personnel issues and the HSS planning for their level of command.
It is the Marine Corps commanders responsibility for coordinating and integrating HSS within their area of operation and responsibility.
These medical officers may have medical planners, medical administrative officers, preventive medicine officers, dental officer and hospital corpsmen assigned to their staff to assist them. Who is assigned is determined by their level of responsibility.
