Half a World Away
I ate steak and shrimp tonight
A meal fit for a king
When someone half a world away
Did not eat a thing
I’ll sleep between clean sheets tonight
While half a world away
Another vet will pray to God
To ask for one more day
There is no war our leaders say
There’s no condition red
While far away a vet will sleep
On bamboo for a bed
No MIA’s our leaders say
They say it loud and strong
And just a half a world away
A vet could prove them wrong
