Flash Back

Flash back thirty years,

A Purple Heart beats silently

as a coward in the crowd

searches deep within himself

to find

just the right kind of phlegm

to spit

He watches with pleasure

as it

slides down the stripes

of a man who faught to protect

his nation

and theirs

I can't imagine

what it's like

to be nineteen

and hauled away

to see not yourself

but a stranger

Make Love Not War

that's all he wanted too

those screams

he once heard

are now his own

he has killed

and been killed
