I am a question in search of an answer.

I am a life form to whom evolution has perversely granted self-awareness; which contributes little to my ability to survive but burdens me with an intellect that is in constant conflict with my emotions.

I am a product of genetics, environment and experience, yet, somehow, more than the sum of my parts.

I am descended from ignorance and savagery in the swamps and jungles. I have fought my way to the top of my food chain; I am prey to no species but my own. And though I stand at the threshold of exploring the stars, I am still an ignorant savage.

I am a predator sick of killing, a warrior weary of battle, a song of despair unsung, a forgotten dream of glory.

I am painful memories of a lost war, and of the shining ideals of my youth.

I am a lame old wolf who sees the end of his days and longs to once again run wild and free in the forest.

I am changing; I am growing; I am learning and adapting;-----I am surviving.

I am arrogance and false pride beaten into humility; I am a casualty of my own ego.

I am a soul that lay naked, bleeding and dying in terror and darkness, restored to the light by the mercy and power of a God that I cannot comprehend.

I am less than a heartbeat in time eternal but a part of me is immortal.

I am a small link in the chain of evolution, a bridge from the past to the future, a transition from my father to my sons; from my mother to my daughters, changing from what I was, to what I am to be.

I am regret for what was, and for what never was -- I am hope for the future.

I am made of the same energy and matter as the stars, to which I shall one day return.

I am a child of God, one with the universe, I am human......
