On our way home from our tour in Korea we decided to make a "pit stop" in Hawaii to visit the beautiful islands of Hawaii and some old Army friends. What a fabulous time we had! Anyone who is doing a tour in Korea should consider stopping by Hawaii on their way back if they are going on leave as they are returning. We checked with Korean travel agents and were wonderfully surprised to find out that it was actually CHEAPER for us to take a flight to Hawaii and then traveling on to the States than a direct flight to the States!!!! Unbelievable! We were lucky enough to have some wonderful friends who even let us stay with them for free. But of course don't forget the great AFRC Hotel the Hale Koa in Waikiki. It is beautiful and cheap! But remember, make your reservations EARLY!!!! They fill up a year in advance sometimes. But always check and make sure. They have lots of cancellations.
Here is some of the wonderful places we visited while in Hawaii. Remember if you get the chance, rent a car. It was so great to be able to have free reign of the island with our convertible. Renting a car is not very expensive. We rented a small Cavalier convertible for $310 for 10 days. Not too bad, I thought. :)

Also before our trip to Hawaii we again purchased one of the "Lonely Planet" books on Hawaii. We had such great success with our Lonely Planet Korea that we purchased the "Lonely Planet Hawaii". It was definitely worth the $17.95 we paid for the book. It had lots of little "out of the way" places to visit and what not. I strongly urge anyone making the trip to invest in the book. You can find it at:
Hope you enjoy the pics of our wonderful Hawaiian vacation!
What a beautiful rainbow.
Hanauma Bay Beach Park - A great place to go snorkeling. They even rent the snorkeling equipment there. Its best to go really early in the morning though before all the sand is stirred up from all the tourists. Its a great place to snorkel, but definitely touristy & crowded. But still a lot of fun!
What beautiful views.
