VA-95 Officers. These are some of the guys I worked with/for while assigned to Attack Squadron 95. Some really cool people to be around. A little background on our Skipper, CDR Gerald L. Nichelson. It is noteworthy that this man spent 4 years as an Aviation Fire Control Technician(AQ) maintaining the old A-6A's. He completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Management and Finance in 1975 and entered AOCS in August of that same year. He served in VA-196, VA-128, VA-52, VA-155, VA-145, and VA-95. While assigned to the Golden Intruders of VA-128, he was selected as the Instructor Bombardier/Navigator(B/N) of the Year for 1982. Commander Nichelson has accumulated over 3200 A-6 flight hours and 800 carrier landings.

In June of 1993, as part of Carrier Air Wing Eleven deployed on the USS Abraham Lincoln(CVN-72), the Lizards supported "Operation Southern Watch," ensuring that Iraq abided by the United Nations imposed no fly zone in southern Iraq. On 11 September, 1993 VA-95 began flying sorties over Somalia in support of the United Nations "Operation Continue Hope."
