SOVIET OFFICERS AIRBORNE AND M.V.D. PARADE UNIFORMS

The uniform on the left is for a Senior Lieutenant Paratroopers Parade uniform. The uniform has the same distinctive Blue colour as the Soviet Air Force. The cap is also the same as worn by an officer of the Air Force. Please note the “Wing” badge on the cap. Parade shoulder boards are worn on this tunic. They have 1 blue stripe running parallel up the board with 3 small rank stars. The blue collar boards have the distinctive Paratroopers collar badges attached. On the left side of the tunic is worn a 70yrs Armed Forces Medal that has been awarded. Below this there is a ‘Komsomol” badge. On the other side of the tunic are the following breast badges. A Guards badge, Academy badge and a 100 Para jumps badge. Above these badges is a 3rd class Officers Classification badge. A standard officers parade belt is worn. A white shirt and blue tie is worn under the tunic.

The uniform on the right side is for a Lieutenant of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (M.V.D.) The colour of the uniform is the same as an officer of the Red Army. On the parade shoulder boards is a Maroon stripe running vertical up the boards with 2 small rank stars attached. The Maroon colour matches the piping on the sleeve and trousers. It also matches the collar boards which have attached a Motor Rifles collar insignia. Maroon is also the colour that is on the piping and band on the parade cap. On the right side of the tunic are 2 Political Academy breast badges. Please note the white shirt and black tie that has a tie clip attached that is worn under the tunic. A standard officers parade belt is also worn.
