Western Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia
CHAPTER MEETING The meeting will be held at the home of Dan & Connie
McKeever, proud parents of ENS Kerry McKeever, newly-assigned to CGC MIDGETT.
This will be a pot-luck affair, so bring something - anything (beverages will be
provided). Bring a lawn chair, too. After mingling and dining, we'll have a
short business meeting and a long Q&A session. [directions on
back] Bring photos!
We'll have a "gallery" table set up, so please bring many photos or your cadet-
framed, bookbound or loose - and we'll have an impressive display. Also, Please! If your cadet is home on leave, drag
him/her to the meeting. We realize that liberty is precious and short, but our
cadets are better at answering some questions than parents. * * * * * Welcome SPECIAL INFORMATION FOR NEW CADETS - [This
info was 'lifted' from the Parents Association website. It was prepared by
Marianne Baker (Matthew'02), Pawcatuck, RI] Reporting-In Day is Tuesday, 6
July 1999. On the evening before, two parent chapters host informal gatherings of new cadets and their families. These receptions
are open to all (not just people from those Chapters). They are a chance to meet
other new Cadets and relax a little before the Big Day. No matter what hotel you
are at, please stop by either (or both) receptions: Radisson
Inn--hosted by the Chesapeake
& Potomac Chapter; Red Roof Inn--hosted by the Delaware Valley Chapter. Families
should plan to spend the entire day at the Academy. The Cadets will be busy, but
there are plenty of interesting activities throughout the day for families and,
at the end of the day, you will see your Cadet one more time. Don't miss the
excellent Barbeque lunch hosted by the New England
Chapter. Pre-Reporting-In Day Hosts: Each year, parents
from Connecticut's Paul Foye Chapter serve as host families to new
Cadets who are traveling to New London alone. As Your Cadet Reports is a web-document, begun by parents of the C&P
Chapter who have "been through it." It provides a wealth of information
designed for new Cadets and parents. This guide supplements the information the
Academy sent you. * * * * * GOODBYE, Ensign Becky Jones Ensign Kerry McKeever Ensign Ryan Reardon * * * * * CHANGING of the GUARD * * * * * NATIONAL BOARD * * * * * MANNING OUR BOOTH - On Reporting-In Day (6
July) and during Parents Weekend (24-26 Sept.) our members share the
table-sitting duties in Leamy Hall. Last year, Don & Mary Brasted,
and Connie McKeever took charge. Pat & Kevin Keffer have
the honors next month (DiGaudio will be on hand, too.) In addition to
selling "stuff" (our primary fund-raising activity) our table serves as a "home
base" for our cadet families during these weekends. * * * * * Interim presidents -

You Made Us
Proud!
To many of us, July 1994 seems like
only yesterday. To our cadets, it was a lifetime ago. On 19 May. The class of
1999 received their diplomas and their commissions. Our newly-appointed ensigns
are reporting to their first tours of duty, across the country and around the
world putting into practice their four years of training. Congratulations to

Outgoing chapter presidents Mike & Sue Shovlin (ENS Kenneth
'98), with the 'blessing' of incoming National Parents Association president
Bob Mohr, have asked Steve & Anna DiGaudio (Rachel '02) to
assume responsibility for chapter operations. We'll need to have a confirmation
vote during our June meeting.
Last
year, Kevin & Pat Keffer (Ben'02) agreed to serve as our chapter's
members-at-large to the National Association's Board of Directors. Their term
runs through Summer '00. Chapter presidents, Steve & Anna DiGaudio,
will also serve on the board, which meets thrice yearly.
