120.1 EXPLAIN THE MISSION AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE SUPPLY SUPPORT CENTER (SSC). (REFS C,D)

120.2 DEFINE EACH OF THE FOLLOWING UNITS OF THE SSC AND STATE THE FUNCTIONS OF EACH AREA. (REFS C, D)
A. SRS (SUPPLY RESPONSE SECTION) - IS THE SINGLE POINT OF CONTACT FOR SATISFYING MATERIAL REQUIREMENTS.

1. RCU (REQUISITION CONTROL UNIT) - PROCESSES ALL REQUESTS FOR MATERIAL TO SUPPORT WEAPON SYSTEMS
2. TRU (TECHNICAL RESEARCH UNIT) - REQUESTS FOR MATERIAL REQUIRED IN SUPPORT OF WEAPON SYSTEM MAINTENANCE ARE RECEIVED HERE.
3. SLU (STOCK LOCATOR UNIT) - RESPONSIBLE FOR LOCATING THE MATERIAL BY USE OF STOCK LOCATOR CARDS, MASTER STOCK STATUS AND LOCATOR LISTING (MSSLL), OR OTHER AVAILABLE LOCATOR SYSTEMS.
4. MDU (MATERIAL DELIVERY UNIT) - RESPONSIBLE FOR THE PICKUP AND DELIVERY OF ALL MATERIAL TO SUPPORTED ACTIVIITIES.
5. PMU (PROGRAM MANAGEMENT UNIT) - RESPONSIBLE FOR PROCESSING AND EXPEDITING HIGH-PRIORITY REQUIREMENTS, SUCH AS NMCS/PMCS, BROAD ARROW, WORK STOPPAGE, AND EXREP. THE PMU DISTRIBUTES DAILY STATUS LISTINGS AND PERFORMS A CONTINUOUS RECONCILIATION OF OUTSTANDING REQUIREMENTS BETWEEN SUPPLY AND MAINTENANCE ACTIVITIES.
6. PEB (PRE-EXPENDED BIN) UNIT CONTAINS HIGH-USAGE, MAINTENANCE-RELATED CONSUMABLE MATERIAL THAT HAVE BEEN EXPENDED FROM SUPPLY DEPARTMENT STOCK RECORDS AND FINANCIAL ACCOUNTS.
B. CCS (COMPONENT CONTROL SECTION), ALSO KNOWN AS THE REPAIRABLE MANAGEMENT SECTION (RMS), IS RESPONSIBLE FOR REPAIRABLES MANAGEMENT BY ACCOUNTING FOR REPAIRABLES STORED IN LRCA STORAGE AREAS, IN THE IMA REPAIR CYCLE AND FOR THOSE BEING PROCESSED FOR SHIPMENT TO DESIGNATED OVERHAUL POINTS (DOPS).
1. DCU (DOCUMENT CONTROL UNIT) - RESPONSIBLE FOR MAINTAINING CONTROL OF COMPONENTS AND ASSOCIATED DOCUMENTS.
2. LRCA (LOCAL REPAIR CYCLE ASSET) STORAGE UNIT - RESPONSIBLE FOR THE RECEIPT, STORAGE, ISSUE, AND ACCOUNTABILITY OF REPAIRABLE ASSETS UNDER THE CONTROL OF THE SSC, INCLUDING THE ROTABLE POOL.
3. SSU (SUPPLY SCREENING UNIT) - RESPONSIBLE FOR PROCESSING ALL ITEMS RETURNED FROM THE IMA. PREPARES THE RETROGRADE MATERIAL FOR SHIPMENT TO THE DOP OR THE DESIGNATED SUPPORT POINT (DSP) VIA THE ADVANCED TRACEABILITY AND CONTROL (ATA) PROGRAM WITHIN 2 WORKDAYS.
4. AWP (AWAITING PARTS UNIT) - RESPONSIBLE FOR RECEIVING, STORING, AND CONTROLLING ALL AWP COMPONENTS RETURNED FROM THE IMA.
120.3 DISCUSS THE REQUIREMENTS FOR THE PRESERVATION, PACKAGING, AND HANDLING OF NON-RFI COMPONENTS PROCESSED THROUGH AIMD. (REFS D,E)
ALL AERONAUTICAL MATERIAL, REGARDLESS OF ITS STATUS, RFI OR NON-RFI, SHALL BE PRESERVED, PACKAGED, AND HANDLED BY SUPPLY AND MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL IN SUCH A MANNER AS TO PREVENT DAMAGE OR DETERIORATION. IN NO CASES SHALL NON-RFI MATERIAL BE CASUALLY OR CARELESSLY HANDLED MERELY BECAUSE IT IS INTENDED TO UNDERGO REPAIR. PARTICULAR CARE SHALL BE GIVEN TO PREVENT FURTHER DAMAGE OF REPAIRABLE ITEMS THAT ARE TO BE RETURNED TO OVERHAUL.
120.4 STATE THE SCOPE OF THE COMPONENT REPAIR PROGRAM (CRP).

THE SCOPE OF COMPONENT REPAIR IS VIRTUALLY UNLIMITED SINCE IT RANGES IN DEPTH FROM A SMALL ADJUSTMENT TO COMPLETE REPAIR OF COMPONENTS. IT DOES NOT INCLUDE EXPENDABLE WEAPONS.
120.5 STATE HOW AN ACTIVITY MAY INCREASE ITS CAPABILITY IN THE CRP AND THE RESPONSIBILITY OF EACH OF THE FOLLOWING. (REF. D,F)
AN ACTIVITY MAY INCREASE ITS REPAIR CAPABILITY BY OVERCOMING ANY OR ALL OF THE FOLLOWING OBSTACLES: LACK OF SKILL, TOOLS, EQUIPMENT, FACILITIES, TECHNICAL DATA, PERSONNEL AND PARTS.
A. REQUESTING ACTIVITY - TO ASSIST IN DETERMINING DEFICIENCIES OR REASONS FOR LACK OF MAINTENANCE CAPABILITY, EACH IMA SHALL ESTABLISH BEYOND CAPABILITY OF MAINTENANCE (BCM) REVIEW PROCEDURES. THE OBJECTIVE IS TO ENSURE BCM CODES ARE PROPERLY ASSIGNED AND DETERMINE THAT AREAS THAT REQUIRE CORRECTIVE ACTION TO IMPROVE CAPABILITY.
B. FUNCTIONAL WINGS - PERFORM THE SAME RESPONSIBILITIES AS THE ACC/TYCOM.
C. ACC/TYCOM'S - TO CONFIRM THE ACTIVITY'S INPUT AND FURNISH INFORMATION THAT WOULD SUPPORT OR NEGATE THE REQUEST.
D. NAVAIR - UPON RECEIPT OF A REQUEST FOR INCREASED CAPABILITY, AND THE ACC/TYCOM'S FORWARDING ENDORSEMENT, NAVAIR SHALL: REVIEW THE REQUEST AND ENDORSE, DETERMINE THE NEED FOR AND FREQUENCY OF A QUALITY AUDIT, AND ARRANGE FOR IT TO BE DONE, APPROVE OR DISAPPROVE THE REQUEST AND PROVIDE JUSTIFICATION, IF APPROVED, DESIGNATE THE SPECIFIC ACTIVITY TO RECEIVE THE INCREASED CAPABILITY AND SPECIFIC CAPABILITY AUTHORIZED.
120.6 STATE THE CONSIDERATIONS FOR PLACEMENT OF PARTS INTO THE ROTATABLE POOL. (REFS. D, F)
SUPPLY SUPPORT IMPROVEMENT, LOCAL DEMAND, AND AVAILABLE SPACE. PROPER MANAGEMENT OF ROTABLE POOL ASSETS DEPENDS PRIMARILY ON THE JUDICIOUS USE OF LOW LIMITS TO ALERT IMA OF POOL ITEM CRITICAL SITUATIONS.

A. EXREP (EXPEDITIOUS REPAIR) - THE PROCESSING OF NOT-IN-STOCK (NIS) DEMANDS FOR OPERATIONAL SUPPORT INVENTORY (OSI) REPAIRABLE'S.
B. LRCA (LOCAL REPAIR CYCLE ASSET) - RESPONSIBLE FOR THE RECEIPT, STORAGE, ISSUE AND ACCOUNTABILITY OF REPAIRABLE ASSETS LOCATED IN ANY STORAGE LOCATION DESIGNATED FOR LRCA, INCLUDING THE ROTABLE POOL. LRCA IS PART OF AN ACTIVITIES REPAIRABLE FIXED ALLOWANCE.

G. BCM - BEYOND CAPABLE MAINTANCE - UNDER NORMAL CIRCUMSTANCES, THE DETERMINATION FOR BEYOND-CAPABILITY-OF-MAINTENANCE MUST BE MADE WITHIN 24 HOURS. WHEN DETERMINED THAT REPAIR CAPABILITY DOES NOT EXIST, THE COMPONENT WILL BE SHIPPED TO ANOTHER ACTIVITY WITHIN 48 HOURS; TOTAL IMA, SUPPLY AND MAINTENANCE HOLD TIME SHALL NOT EXCEED THREE DAYS.
120.8 STATE THE CRITERIA FOR THE REPAIR OF ALL AERONAUTICAL MATERIAL. (REF. A)
ALL MATERIAL IS TO BE REPAIRED AT THE LEVEL OF MAINTENANCE WHICH WILL ENSURE OPTIMUM ECONOMIC USE OF RESOURCES CONSISTENT WITH ASSIGNED AVAILABILITY AND READINESS STANDARDS, REGARDLESS OF THE SOURCE, MAINTENANCE AND RECOVERABILITY (SM&R) CODES ASSIGNED.
