S-2 Division, the Food Service Division, is responsible for providing
appealing, nourishing meals to the crew four times each day. While at sea, this
amounts to the preparation and serving of over 2,200 meals per day, a big job requiring
the efforts of over 20 cooks and more than 45 messmen. Oklahoma City has her own
bake shop on board which produces fresh bred, rolls, and pastries.
S-2 Division recognizes the important part food plays in the morale of the crew and makes
every effort to provide a wide variety of dishes that will satisfy every appetite.
In this vein, the Food Service Division has established a series of International Nights
where various cultures are spotlighted and national dishes are presented to the
crew. Another popular innovation has been Beefeater's Night. Normally held on
Sunday evenings, this night's menu will normally consist of steamship round or prime rib
of beef.
