OI Division is responsible for the operation of Oklahoma City's Combat
Information Center (CIC), the brain center of the ship. The OI Division radarmen not
only operate the ship's air and surface search radars but are also responsible for
maintaining voice communications with other ships and forces. In carying out these
responsibilities, OI Division acts as the ship's focal point during anti-air warfare and
Naval Gunfire Support Operations by rapidly and accurately collecting, processing,
displaying, evaluating and disseminating tactical information.
During operations against the enemy, the radarmen are directly responsible for the
coordination between the ship's weapons systems and the force commanders.
