Welcome to Gallery II. Most of
these pictures are of the Marine 26th Expeditionary Force and the 82nd
Airborne, Task Force 505 in Kosovo. The Marines are patroling Gnjilane,
the 82nd Urosevac, both situated in southeastern Kosovo. As
you can see, "peacekeeping" means simultaneously mediating between Serbs
and Kosovars, extinguishing fires, patrolling, falling under fire in combat-like
conditions, and trying to survive while focusing on your job. All
of these pictures date from June 20, 1999.
