U.S. Forces Hold 21 Serbs After Apache Operation
PRISTINA (Reuters) - U.S. forces in Kosovo detained 21 Serbs for questioning
after Apache
helicopters spotted an illegal checkpoint, the KFOR peacekeeping force
said Sunday.
KFOR said in its daily press statement that the Apaches had reported
the checkpoint Saturday
afternoon in the Zabeljce area, eight miles from the eastern town of
Gnjilane.
``When spotted, the individuals jumped into three vehicles and drove
north. The individuals
involved were later apprehended. A total of 21 Serbs are being detained
for questioning by the
military police,'' the statement said.
KFOR in Pristina said no further details of the incident were immediately
available and the U.S.
forces' media center in eastern Kosovo could not be reached for more
information.
