The Future

So what is next? The media has asked when "the photos" will be released and so have several recent e-mails. We understand the power of the photographs and the sensationalism they bring. While we have already developed two rolls of film with shocked faces, license plates, and vehicles in full view, our goal appears to have been met before the need to go any further.

While the public and the media appear to want the photos, as we knew they would, we would like to withhold them since our particular problem appears to have receded significantly. The prostitutes and pimps have gone further back from the area they started from. They are still seen but they quickly move a block or two whenever they see a member of our community watching. They appear to understand that we are bad for their business since flashbulbs always seem to go off when they step inside a vehicle. This tactic, however, did not work before the website was created.

The pimps and the prostitutes are still running a business, but not in the few blocks we monitor. The neighborhoods still affected need to be just as proactive and continue the pressure in their own way, whether it be low-tech or high-tech.

Are we worried that the traffic will be back? We are banking on the high profile the media gave this site to provide a simple message to those johns who are thinking of returning to our neighborhood:

If you come into our neighborhood to pick up a hooker you will have your photo taken for our city and the rest of Canada to see. Think twice and don't do it!

We do not intend this to be interpreted as merely a sensationalistic stunt. We hope our work stimulates discussion on the existing laws, as well as the priority that law makers, politicians, and the police place on this problem.
