E-mail Quotes

Twenty-four hours after the A-Channel published the Calgary Ho Down address over 1200 members of the public decided to come by and forty-five e-mails were received. Of those e-mails

  • forty e-mails were supportive of the site in various ways;
  • one individual created a graphic (now seen in our FAQ section) in support of the site;
  • two asked for interviews for radio and television stations;
  • and two individuals stated an intent to sue and/or cause bodily harm.

    The following are some excerpts of those e-mails.

    "I really feel that, apart from the licence plate numbers photos would be the best deterrent to johns. Vehicles can be borrowed, but faces can't!!"

    "My family and I are very tired of the local sex trade, and would like to help you in any way we can."

    "As a Calgarian I appreciate your efforts to control the sex trade in our city. Keep up the good work."

    "I have sent this url to all my contacts on icq ; through hotmail ; and any body else that live in calgary that I could find. I really hope this works."

    "I have noticed a HUGE decrease in hookers in the last bit....but I didn't know why....now I do.....BRAVO!!!!"

    "I do not live in the Victoria area but appreciate what it would be like to have this type of degeneration around my home. Keep it up and much success with your efforts."

    "I don't live in Vic Park, but, I would certainly be willing to volunteer assistance if its needed or wanted."

    "The Cops should have been doing this a long time ago. Color photos in the daily papers with descriptions of the pervs. I'd do it in my neighborhood!"

    "Have you ever thought that some of these so called "johns" could be family members trying to talk the prostitutes out of their line of work!! Not everybody is guilty!!!"

    "You suck!!! The world would be a better place if busybodies like yourself would be shot! Mind your own business!!!"

    "I applaud your initiative and hope that this strategy will eventually work. Keep up the great job."

    "I am a police officer and understand that at times, issues like this make us all frustrated and feel powerless with the current legal system. I just wanted you to know that from a citizen's point of view......well done! You have let other neighborhoods know that they are not powerless."
