SO 21836,SC,13671 BL 15731-160-50 Richard enlisted under Capt.Thomas Collins Co.U.S. Volunteers on August 27,1812. This company was the first out of Fayette county,Pennsylvania commanded at times under Col.Newcomer and Col. Mills regiment,lead by General Boyd and Smith. Richard was employed by Qaurtermaster Thomas,Buffalo,extra duty. They marched from Uniontown in August of 1812 .Richard enlisted for one year then continued in actual service in the said year for 323 days.Richard would serve most of his time around Sackets Harbor New York area and the Canada line.The historic village o Sackets Harbor was the United States' most important shipbuilding center during the War of 1812.Headquarters for the U.S. Navy on the Great Lakes, it was home to thousands of shipwrights, carpenters, sailors, and soldiers gathered to construct, sail, and defend the fleet. During the War of 1812, one third of the United States Army, and a quarter of its Navy, were stationed at Sackets Harbor..Richard was for a short time detached to take charge of a United States team in the said service.He then would retu n to his company and was honorably discharged at Oswego New York on the 26th day of August 1813 by Major John Herkmer.

The land is on the west side of the Mystic River, Mystic, CT., called Burrows farm. My great great grandmo her Mary Ann Burrows was born there in 1837.
