Warrant Officer Education System

The Warrant Officer Education System provides preappointment and leader development training to develop technically and tactically competent warrant officers. WOES consists of five levels: preappointment (Warrant Officer Candidate School), entry (Warrant Officer Basic Course), advanced (Warrant Officer Advanced Course), staff (Warrant Officer Staff Course), senior staff (Warrant Officer Senior Staff Course). Technical training is predicated on proponents' identification of required warrant officer skill levels.

The TRADOC common core consists of those tasks required of, and common to, all warrant officer Military Occupational Specialties. The Warrant Officer Career Center (WOCC) monitors/manages development and execution of warrant officer common core training products.WOCC further monitors integration of common core training support products within branch training courses as appropriate.

Level 1

Warrant Officer Candidate School (WOCS)
At Warrant Officer Career Center. Graduation includes appointment to warrant officer.

Level 2

Warrant Officer Basic Course (WOBC)
At the Branch/MOS proponent school. Technical certification in the new warrant officer's primary specialty. Complete within 2 years of appointment.

Level 3 - Prerequisite Phase

Warrant Officer Advanced Course (WOAC) Prerequisite Studies.
Enroll after promotion to CW2. Correspondence course distributed by ATSC.
Course Dates - Not applicable.

Level 3 - Resident Phase

Warrant Officer Advanced Course (WOAC) Resident
Active and USAR - Upon selection for CW3.
ARNG - Prior to selection for CW3.
Professional development course at the Branch/MOS proponent school.

Warrant Officer Staff Course (WOSC)
Active and USAR - Upon selection for CW4.
ARNG - Prior to selection for CW4.

Active - Upon selection for CW5.
