The Association of Gunner's Mates was founded in 1991, when our Services
brought a renewed feeling of Pride and Patriotism that had not been experienced
since the early days of World War II. Jack Photenhauer
and Bob Albinson were shipmates in the late 50's, but served mostly
on different ships. After being separated for over 30 years, they decided
that since they would not be going to the same ship reunions, it would
be ideal to form an organization where they would have something in
common. Since both were Gunner's Mates, with the same basic background,
they pursued the development of this fine organization, and the Association
of Gunner's Mates was born.
